Femi-Nuns on the defensive
Angel Queen links to a recent NY Times article on the investigation that's underway into women religious orders here in the U.S.
Mother Mary Clare Millea, who is heading up the visitation, looks very much like the good sisters who taught me back in the 70's. They were Immaculate Heart of Mary sisters (the good branch), who wore the habits, kept order, and didn't teach us any mumbo-jumbo.
Naturally, the Femi-Nuns are up in arms about this visitation. Perhaps because they realize the Vatican is on to them.

Yay for Mother Mary Clare! I wish her all the best in rooting the Broad Factor out of the convents!
She's certainly got her work cut out for her.
My question is - what will the Vatican actually DO to the obstinate ones?
Force them to wear natural fibers?
Hehe - good one, Anita. Oh, the horror!
I'd opt for cutting off the branches that bear no fruit, forcing them to fend for themselves rather than live off the fat of the Vatican.
The sisterz look like men!
paul, given how far those crazy sisterz have fallen from the vatican, i think your idea for their punishment is most appropriate :)

An unfortunate but accurate stereotype.
Ummmm...you realize don't you that the Church does not support the religious orders? It's Canon Law that religious orders must be self supporting. So the Church cutting them off certainly wouldn't do anything monetarily to the orders.
Actually, anonymous, I'm not aware of the structure of it all.
Heck, even if there's no money involved, the reason they are able to command some support is obviously because they trade on calling themselves "Catholic".
actually, Paul: you said it
right:
"the FAT of the Vatican"
get informed before you comment.
hehe, good point, Betsy!
An unfortunate but accurate stereotype.

I meant on your cartoon! At least two of them.
