Let's not jump to conclusions...

The same talking heads who fell all over themselves urging us to "not jump to conclusions" about the Ft. Hood shootings apparently have no problem doing so when a chance to smear anyone on the right appears.

The strange thing about this is that in straining to see "right wing sins" in Loughner's shooting, they ignore/downplay the fact that he is an atheist and a communist. I'm surprised they haven't come out to tell us not to jump to conclusions about atheists.

The guy was also found to be in possession of a satanic altar in his back yard. Color me suspicious...but seems to me like that might have been a HUGE factor.

In this, and in so many cases, you have to ask about the parents.

Editorial cartoons are found almost exclusively in news publications and news websites. Although they also employ humor, they are more serious in tone, commonly using irony or satire. The art usually acts as a visual metaphor to illustrate a point of view on current social and/or political topics. Editorial cartoons often include speech balloons and, sometimes, multiple panels. Editorial cartoonists of note include Herblock, David Low, Jeff MacNelly, Mike Peters and Gerald Scarfe.[1]

As a D.C. boy, I grew up reading Herblock's cartoons, although I rarely agreed with him. His style was some of the best I've ever seen. And MacNelly was a hoot.

This is like saying i assume that all Catholics are Pedophiles because some members of the clergy like to fiddle kids. Though there is much bigger evidence for that as there are much more cases of pedophilia within Catholicism than there are homicidal maniacs within atheism. Does any thought go into these pictures at all?

You completely missed the point of the cartoon. It wasn't to malign all atheists. The point is how the media spins stories to fit their viewpoint. IF he'd been Muslim, for example, the media would be falling all over themselves telling us to not jump to conclusions about Muslims. If he were a registered Democrat, the same would have happened.

But if he'd been a registered Republican, or God forbid, a Catholic, no such attempt at "conclusion jumping" would have been offered.
