Prayer for Christian Unity

Today is the 100th anniversary of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Here's how I'd compose my prayer:

************

Dear Lord, I believe in Your Word,
Would that all might believe and come Home.
Though the Protestant thinks it absurd,
He'll truly find You when he gets to Rome.

************

I know, I know - it's "Religiously Incorrect". But if we're to pray for "unity", what exactly does "unity" mean? To me, it means that all unite in the Ark of Salvation. Which means everyone in the water has to get in the boat.

Greetings

In this week of prayer for Christian unity I want to encourage people ecumenically to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. There may be divisions at the point of Eucharist – but we can unite around praying the Bible together – which is what the Liturgy of the Hours is. As we grow in union with God in prayer we grow in union with each other – and can celebrate diversity.

Blessings

Yeah, the unity thing is an enigma to me. I cannot see where many concessions will be made on either side. (Not in this day and age)

Those who invoke the "spirit of Vatican II" to justify this dialogue-without-evangelization nonsense should reflect very closely on an article from "This Rock," entitled "Will the real Vatican II please stand up?" (http://www.catholic.com/thisrock/2003/0307fea1.asp) Some bits of wisdom from Unitatis Redintegratio (the Vatican II Decree on Ecumenism):

"For it is only through Christ’s Catholic Church, which is ‘the all-embracing means of salvation,’ that they can benefit fully from the means of salvation. We believe that our Lord entrusted all the blessings of the New Covenant to the apostolic college alone, of which Peter is the head, in order to establish the one Body of Christ on earth to which all should be fully incorporated who belong in any way to the people of God" - Unitatis Redintegratio (V2 Decree on Ecumenism)

"It is, of course, essential that the doctrine should be clearly presented in its entirety."

"Nothing is so foreign to the spirit of ecumenism as a false irenicism in which the purity of Catholic doctrine suffers loss and its genuine and certain meaning is clouded."

I don't know what "celebrate diversity" means. It's usually used here in the states as a way to get people with some sense of morality to accept immorality.

The fullness of the Faith is in the Catholic Church. There's nothing "out there" that will "add" to our Faith.

Oh, I'd probably just add a little prayer for the perfidious Jews, and another one for the heretics, other than that, I wouldn't change a thing!

A young Australian Man (Sam Clear) is currently walking around the world asking all Christians to pray for Christian Unity. To have a look at his journey so far (from Brazil to Russia in 12 months), have a look at www.ymt.com.au/walk4one

I have a dream... of brothers and sisters in Christ being decent and loving to each other, instead of spending time trying to fabricate a Church of the Least Common Denominator to contain all the denominational bureaucrats, little statesmen and divines.

Lord, we pray that they may be one... but please, not yet!
