I've read some of the reaction to the updated translation that will be put into effect in 2011. I can't help but laugh at the protesting and ugliness on display by those who are against it. Their argument is that they've had this translation for 40 years - why change it? What's funny is that some of these same aging hippies saw no problem with ditching 1900 years of tradition way back in 1969.
Now they're crying because a few words and phrases are changed? It's almost as if they're saying "Look, we've dumbed this down for 40 years and we're not going to stand for you 'smartening' it up!!!".
You can always judge the efficacy and worthiness of something by the reaction of liberals. If they love it, it can't be good, and if they hate it, it's GOT to be good.
As I see it, the new translation is a good start. They need to keep working.

Or, if it's not - give me an example of something that has occurred in the last 40 years that was good for the Church, and at the same was loved by liberals.
The back and forth is pathetic from the liberals. Granted I hate the Novus Ordo Service period. But this comment just showed how liberal and fallen some are:

Seems like they committ the heresy of Luther in denying the objecitve power of Holy Orders and Apostolic succession. Another good one from liberal idiocy was "...time for a Catholic Boston Tea Party. Only instead of tossing tea into the harbor, it should be the crates of the Roman Missal."
Those who keep clinging to the trash liturgy and call themselves Catholics is nothing more than a sick joke.
If you don't like the new translation, you have the option to demand Latin!
Long live Pope Benedict and Pope John Paul for trying to restore the Holy Mass back to where it should be.
I am reminded of Our Lord's message to St Francis of Assisi to rebuild His Church.
Thanks be to God--our beautiful Mother Church is being restored back to her glory. (Or, it's a start anyway!)

Most of the abuse occurred in the 60s,70s, and some in the 80s, during the so called "Spirit of Vatican 2"

I'm totally on your side, but I should point out that this would not score any rhetorical points with anti-hierarchy types. They'd just say that prior to V2, it all went unreported, which is convenient for them because they can say it was worse pre-council and it can't be falsified.
Paul, I am still trying to think of something in the last 40 years that was good for the Church and loved by the libs, but I keep coming up dry.

I won't be using the new translation, I'll stick to the Latin, makes my life much easier
Canada may not be implementing the missal at Advent 2011.
Apparently our Bishops are waiting for the approval of their Calendar of Propers, so we don't have an official implementation date yet, although they do say "Advent 2011" on the website.
I'm sure, as we get closer to Advent, that stunts will be pulled to delay implementation.
