We know the enemy outside, but what about the ones within?

Looks like the Bishops know full well who some of the enemies of the Church are outside the gates, but what to do about the ones within?

Would love to hear a Bishop give a homily about the Church's teaching on contraception instead of starting a civil legal battle. Or hey...how about both?

I've heard contraception addressed ONCE in my now-14 years back in the Church: a transitional deacon gave a homily whereby he stated that if you couldn't accept the Church's teaching on something as clear-cut as contraception, you would lack the faith to believe in everything else the Church teaches, primarily with regard to the Eucharist.
I caught him the following week and told him it was a wonderful homily and he had tears in his eyes. His reaction and body language told me that he'd been upbraided for giving that homily. He never gave another one.
